Ways of Making Money

I have to say right up front that I’ve never really been into coupon sites, shopping sites, or any other website on the web that is set up primarily to sell something. I really only resort to shopping online during Christmas to avoid the crowds. I rarely really find any deals that I would consider “amazing” online. Sure, you can save a bit if you purchase a computer or even a car through the Internet, but usually those discounts are no different or more than you’re offered in-store.

With that said, my entire attitude toward online deals changed when someone recently pointed me toward Groupon. Groupon is a site that is really difficult to describe, because it’s different than most other sites devoted to selling you something. Groupon stands apart because it offers different things to different people, so I’ve decided to go over the 5 coolest ways that you can make use of Groupon.

id="more-63222">

Sign In & Instantly Earn Cash

The entire point of Groupon is more of a “group” deal than just a discount site. It actually reminds me a little bit of eBay because each deal is only up for a limited time. Once the set minimum number of buyers purchase the deal, everyone receives the discount.

style="text-align: center;">

Once you sign up with your email, you can start adding friends. While I really hate referring my friends to any sort of sales website, Groupon really is worth it. It takes me a lot to admit that, but after watching a few of the discounts show up – I was really surprised by how steep many of them are. Most of them are 40 to 70 percent off of things like local dining, spa treatments, store discounts and a lot more.

style="text-align: center;">

For every friend you refer and that signs up, you get ten bucks in Groupon coupons. Now, if you think about that, that means every ten friends you convince to sign up with you, that’s a hundred dollars just to get started buying deals on Groupon.

Save Money At Local Businesses

The part that sets Groupon above the rest in my opinion is the fact that the deals are tailored to your geographic location.  Of course, add in the excitement of a limited time offer (right down to the ticking clock) and the need to get at least the minimum number of buyers, and it can get kind of exciting.

style="text-align: center;">

This means that you’re not going to see discounts to just national brands or major store chains, these are impressive deals that local businesses are offering.

Save Money On Gifts

Once you sign up and start buying “Groupons”, you can organize those in your account under “My Groupons“. You can also purchase Groupon coupons as gifts and send them to your friends. The cool thing about this is that you can purchase some pretty impressive gifts but you don’t have to spend a fortune.

style="text-align: center;">

Now, if you really want to offer your friends an awesome gift, then pass on the savings to them. At the bottom of the main Groupon page, you’ll see a link for “Give the Gift of Groupon.” Click on that link, fill out the details and the amount you’d like to give and send your friends a Groupon credit.

style="text-align: center;">

Why are Groupon coupons better than cash? Because it goes further. Your friend will be able to stretch that $25 gift certificate into a purchase worth $50 to $100. And don’t be fooled by my choice of currency – Groupon is available in 35 countries across the world.

Use Groupon For Your Business

I think the magic that will make Groupon even more popular moving forward is the fact that it makes everyone happy. Obviously, customers that can save over fifty percent off the cost of anything are usually pretty happy, but the business model of Groupon is pretty impressive as well. Basically, businesses don’t pay until they get paid. When you sign up to advertise, Groupon simply takes a commission of the sale and gives you the rest.

Getting featured on Groupon is as easy as clicking the “Groupon for your Business” link at the bottom of the main page.

style="text-align: center;">

Fill out the form and you’re good to go.  If you don’t have anything to sell, but you wouldn’t mind making money by referring folks to Groupon, then you’ll be interested in their affiliate plan.

style="text-align: center;">

You can even have the color format of the ad match the theme of your own site. This is what the ad will look like on your site.

style="text-align: center;">

What makes it unique and useful to your website visitors is that the ads will automatically check for the location of your visitor, and then try to deliver deals from their local area.

Access Your Groupons On Your Mobile Device

Using Groupons becomes a lot more useful when you can use “paperless redemption” to cash in your purchased Groupon using your mobile device. All of the deals you purchased are stored on your phone where you can access them quickly without printing.

style="text-align: center;">

While you’re on the go and looking for local deals, just search for nearby deals using the built-in GPS feature – it’s a cool, fast way to save money while you’re on the road.

In his 2011 State of the Union address, President Barack Obama emphasized his commitment to transforming America's energy policy,
with initiatives to move our nation away from killer fossil fuels. Although he called for doubling "clean" electricity in the United
States, he argued only that this was important to keep America
competitive and "win the future." Climate hawks were dismayed that the president did not even make passing mention of global warming --
either the dark future of a superheated planet or the present turmoil
of catastrophic weather, fueled by coal and oil pollution. Nor did he
defend the thousands of scientists whose work has come under attack by
nearly the entire Republican Party. Today, Obama briefly recognized the
reality of climate change as he announced an initiative to cut energy waste in our homes and buildings:

Right here at Penn State, a university whose motto is
"Making Life Better," you've answered the call. Today, you're preparing
to lead the way on a hub that will make America home to the most energy-efficient buildings in the world.
Now, that may not sound too sexy, "energy-efficient buildings." But
listen. Our homes and our businesses consume 40 percent of the energy we
use. Think about that. Everybody focuses on cars and gas prices, and
that's understandable. But our homes and our businesses use 40 percent
of the energy. They contribute to 40 percent of the carbon pollution that we produce and that is contributing to climate change. It costs us billions of dollars in energy bills. They waste huge amounts of energy.

The good news is we can change all that. Making our buildings
more energy-efficient is one of the fastest, easiest, and cheapest ways
to save money, combat pollution, and create jobs right here in the
United States of America
. And that's what we're going to do. [Emphasis mine.]

Watch the video:

Reflecting many of the idea's in the Center for American Progress's Rebuilding America proposal, the president's goal of increasing building energy efficiency
20 percent by 2020 is tied to new tax incentives for commercial
building retrofits, expanded loan guarantees, a new competitive grant
program for states and municipalities, and a new training program and
extension service for businesses in energy efficient building
technology.

With his strong clean-energy jobs push, President Obama is addressing
the crises facing this nation. Steering America to fight climate
pollution is his great unmet challenge. He missed the opportunity to
teach Americans about the true nature of the severity of the climate
crisis in his first two years in office, even as Nashville, Fargo,
Russia, Pakistan, Australia, and the rest of the world were pummeled by
the hottest, wettest climate on record. He must do more than mention
"carbon pollution" in passing before a friendly, collegiate audience,
but it's a start.

Right... we all know what e-bay is, how it works, what it does, and how it has affected the internet, and the world. E-bay is the biggest online auction site on the internet, so surly there has to be ways of making money on it without selling your beloved goods. Well... there is! This fantastic method is known as GNU. The GNU General Public License is a free, copy left license for software and other kinds of works.

What all of this means, is that there is software out there, which you can simply find by visiting a search engine such as Google or ask and search for "GNU Software" - and what's even better, all of this software is copyright free, so how can you use this to make money.

People look on e-bay every day for games, programs such as Microsoft word or office, so what better way to use e-bay than provide people with exactly this. While the GNU license does not allow you to sell its products, it does allow you to sell the information you have research on these products, meaning you are selling the time and effort it has taken you to find out about the product at hand, and provide people with a link to download said product.

So what's the next step?

If you can create an e-bay listing, then say hello to your new path of income! So here's what to do, your first step is to do a bit of research and find a few GNU products that you like, and that you think other people will need, a few I would recommend, that I have sold myself in the past are - "Open Office" and "VLCPlayer" these products are a more effective remake of Microsoft Office and Windows Media Player. The next step is to create your listing, remember you're looking to sell a product, so make the product sound amazing, spend a fair bit of time on it, as you can save this listing and keep selling the same product over and over again. Set a fair buy it now price, the most commonly used price for GNU products is £1.99 though a low price, it soon mounts up as you watch the sales come in.

Finally, when creating your E-Bay listing, have a look around at other people's listings you will find them with keywords such as "Open Office", and make sure you have this notice at the bottom of your listing and I guarantee you will never have your product removed from E-Bay.

Note to eBay Staff: We are authorized to distribute this software under GNU General Public License (GPL).
